Taxonomic Note
This species was originally named Batrachoseps wrighti by Bishop, in honor of both A. H. Wright and M. R. Wright. It was later pointed out that conventions on the use of Latin in species names would dictate that the correct spelling should be wrightorum, but taxonomic authorities have stuck with using wrighti.
